What grade is considered failing at Wake Tech? ›

Students who have a cumulative GPA of below 2.0 consecutively for the Fall and Spring semesters will be placed on Academic Suspension at the end of the Spring semester.

It is a mid-size institution with an enrollment of 6,790 undergraduate students. The Wake Tech acceptance rate is 100%.

Students enrolled in credit courses automatically receive free Wake Tech email accounts. Twenty-four hours after activating your Wake Tech Key Account, go to Office 365 and type in your Key Account username followed by @my.waketech.edu (example: zzsmith@my.waketech.edu). Use your Key Account password for Office 365.

349 Wake Tech graduates who earned AA, AS, AE and AAS degrees in 2016-17 had an overall average GPA of 3.01 after their first year (2016-17) at a UNC System institution, compared with the UNC native juniors' overall average GPA of 2.90.

At most colleges, a final grade below 60% qualifies as a failing grade. Depending on your college's GPA scale, that can mean anything below a 1.0 or 0.7 GPA counts as a failed class.

Wake Technical Community College is subject to the Open-Door Admission Policy established by the State Board of Community Colleges. This policy provides for admission of any legal resident of the United States who is a high school graduate, is at least 18 years old or is an emancipated minor.

What is my WakeID password? Employees set their WakeID password during the claim account process. New students' default passwords are their student ID numbers. New WCPSS students and current students who do not know their WakeID will receive this information from their teacher or another school staff member.

Numerical and letter grades

However, there are some schools that consider a C the lowest passing grade, so the general standard is that anything below a 60% or 70% is failing, depending on the grading scale. In college and universities, a D is considered to be an unsatisfactory passing grade.

You'll usually need to receive a letter grade between A and D to pass a class, often the numerical equivalent of 65 percent or higher. Receiving an F—which stands for “fail”—indicates that you did not pass the class. The cutoff to receive an F is usually 64 percent.

The normal grading range is from 55 to 100. The number grades correspond to letter grades as reflected in the chart below. The minimum passing grade is 70 (C). Any grades between 55 and 69 (D and F) are considered failing grades for which unit credit is not earned.

Most colleges and universities generally consider a "D" (or a 60% to 69% score) as a passing grade. It's important to note that this minimum or lowest passing grade standard can significantly vary depending on the institution or major.
